Here, you are stuck at Tin and Silver until you get to Mining 125, where you can mine Iron. Thousand Needles is no longer a good place to farm silver and iron. Since Cata, it is more abundant in Mithril, True Silver and Gold. I just swam the entire length of Thousand Needles and ended after 1.5 hours with only 41 iron ore, 7 gold ore, 3 silver ore and 38 heavy stone.
